Moose sightings and charges reported on the Golf Course and in Fernie parks and on trails

Moose have been seen in James White and Annex parks and by the boardwalk on eco terrorist trail. A moose was reported charging at people on the golf course and dogs were chased and cornered by a moose in the Annex Park. It is calving season and moose cows may be aggressive. There are currently 8 to 10 moose that we know of moving throughout the City of Fernie.

Moose are wild animals and need to be given space and privacy. Stay safe by keeping an appropriate distance from them or just avoid the area. Use caution when walking dogs and keep them on a leash. Dogs chasing wildlife may result in human/wildlife conflict.
