Brown colored black bear seen by Ridgemont and on Cokato road

A brown colored black bear was seen on the trail behind Overwaitea that leads up to Ridgemont and also later reported on Cokato road where the road turns to gravel. There have been no further sightings of this bear the last few days so we are hopeful he has moved on to the wilderness to feed.

An orphaned grizzly cub was relocated from Highline Drive at Fernie Alpine Resort to a wildlife rehabilitation centre in Northern BC.

A reminder to all Elk Valley residents to keep all garbage in a shed, garage or indoors between collection days or take it to the transfer station. Bring in bird feeders during bear season (May to November), clean your BBQ’s and secure all other attractants. Thank you for helping keep our wildlife wild and our community safe and keep helping your family, brown balck bear friends and neighbours do the same.
