Cyclists have reported seeing a bear and two cubs feeding in the huckleberry patches by Old Goat trail in the early evening. Be prepared and expect to encounter bears in berry patches.
The safest wildlife encounter is one prevented.
At home: keep garbage locked up between collection days, clean up fruit trees, secure BBQ’s and bring in bird-feeders.
On the trail: Avoid surprise encounters, call out, clap or sing to warn wildlife and other trail users of your presence, don’t litter, carry bear spray and know how to use it.
